Literary Reflection for 1984

Something happens to Winston in the beginning of Part 2. When Winston was walking and it was late at night when Winston sees the dark haired girl or Julia (that is the dark hair lady’s name) and she purposely falls right in front of Winston. When Julia fell she slipped Winston a note and left quickly. Winston, scared of the contents that the note may contain didn't want to open it right away. But Winston opened it and it say three simple word “I love you”. Winston was stunned. So to get more information about the note Winston and the dark haired girl appointed a time to meet without a telescreen and a place not filled with microphones either. This happened to me when I was younger.
It happened when I was in the 5th grade. My classmates and I were playing Jeopardy and we were spilt into teams according to the tables we were sitting in. Before the game started some of my female classmates gave me a note and told me to read and ran back to their sit giggling. Confused why they laughed, I read the note. I must have read that note like five times before I gave it to my friends to read. Apparently, it was from my other classmate who I knew had a crush on me since 1st grade. I was really stunned since I didn’t know about dating that much and never thought he would write a love letter to me. Before I could even ask him anything about it the classmate who gave me the note told him to write it. I felt really sorry for him since I said no and that he was forced to write.
From the experience I experience I can relate to Winston in that situation. When you are giving a love letter you feel stunned, confused because sometimes the note can come from a person you don’t even know. In 1984 the book may have some experiences that we can remember and relate to.

Literary Analysis for 1984

The book 1984 by George Orwell is about Winston Smith, who is 39 years old, lives a life were a person knows as Big Brother rules over Oceania and makes rules that everyone has to live by. Winston, who is tired of it, wants Big Brother and the Party that works with him taken down and Winston’s express himself and his thoughts in a diary he bought. The book also has many examples of irony and the examples are the dark haired woman and  The Ministries of the town.
In the book, the Party created different Ministries. Some of the Ministries were Ministry of Truth, Peace, Love, and Plenty. The Ministries are the opposite of what the title implies. In the Ministry of Love is more fear, torture, and suffering so the people of Oceania can love Big Brother. Ministry of Peace where it deals with war, Ministry of Truth where lies are created or changed, and Ministry of Plenty where it rations out food.
The dark haired lady who seems interested in Winston, is another example of irony. She appeared in Winston’s dream and she works in the Fiction Department. Winston also finds her suspicious and frighten of her but he is overcome by lust for the dark haired lady. Winston also wants to have sex with her but he also wants to kill her. Winston wants to do the opposite of what he says to the dark haired lady.
These are just some of the examples of irony that are found in 1984. The examples of irony really show how the world that Winston lives in is different from the world today.

Introduction

Hello people this is a blog i have created for my English Class. So the majority of my post will be assignments that I have to do for English but the other post will be about me and some personal stuff as well. Oh and i should tell you about the book we are reading in English class, its called 1984 by George Orwell. At first the book was boring to me but when i got to Part 2 of the book, that's where things got really interesting and can't wait to read more of it.  .The other stuff will be personal so if you want to know more about me and stay for that.

 Oh and i forgot to tell you my name is Marcella and I am a Sophomore in high school which puts me at 15 years old.I may be quiet when you first see me but once you get to know me I am very loud, crazy, and I can have the stupidest moments when i can annoy people around me and hope that they don't hit me. I love taking pictures and hope to be a photographer someday and a Director because it seems so fun to do.
